I'm suspicious of fathers

It's father's day 

But it doesn't matter 

No one has ever been a dad to me.

The word father 

Either is meaningless 

Or brings bad feelings.

I'm suspicious of fathers

When I see them 

With their daughters.

I always feel like the child

Needs to get away

Before it's too late. 

But not every girl 

Has had a scary monster

For a father.  

Just the unlucky ones.  

Just the ones who will 

Never fully trust anyone again.
