Tell Them You Love Them

 "Hug your friends."

"Tell them you love them."
"I'd rather talk to you than be at your funeral "

You post this when a friend dies
After they struggled so long and
Finally gave up.

But why didn't you say these things
When they were here?
When they were still breathing?

Why didn't you listen to them
When they were screaming?
You never blinked an eye.

I have been screaming
And you don't hear me
Or you ignore it.

Will you remember my screams
If I ever give up?
Or will you pretend you never heard?

Will you regret not saying you love me,
Or not coming to visit?
Will you realize you could have been my life raft?

You just say these things when you
Realize you lost someone.
Always said in regret, never to help.

Will you repeat the pattern
And let people keep dying
Or will you listen for the screams?
