Indy Indie Book Crawl Poem
I've always loved books
But wow I was shook
When I couldn't go book crawling
Because of the broken elevator in my building.
I'm a wheelchair user you see
I can't leave my apartment without it's speed
I've been stuck in my unit for about 20 days
I don't know the next time I'll get out okay.
Since I got sick
My life has become full of adjustments
To continue to do the hobbies I pick
So I can still feel fulfillment.
So, I can't leave my home
But I can send my husband out alone
I can post on my bookstagram
And check off bingo activities on with my pen.
I can shop online
And support my community.
Even if it means I'm not on a cash register line.
Even if it means never seing my city.
We all live different lives
And things change as time passes by
I'd rather strive
For living than sit and cry.
I know this poem doesn't rhyme
But neither do Eminem's rhymes
Neither of us claims to be Leanne Rimes
Or Busta Rhymes
But you get what we mean
And that's the dream.
