April 30th, 2024 Writing Prompt

Situation Prompt - 4/30/2024

Three friends go hiking together. When they start their trek it's sunny, but by midday dark clouds are looming overhead. Do they turn back? Continue hiking? Find shelter and wait for the storm to pass?

The rain starts as just a drizzle. Monica notices it first. She's always noticing things first. She thinks we should find somewhere to wait out the rain. Johnny is all about proving himself so of course he wants to keep going. I didn't even want to come today. I should have just stayed in bed but my two best friends wouldn't let me sleep the day away, dreaming that things were different.  

While Monica and Johnny continue to argue, the rain picks up. It starts off as that gross fat rain that is bearable but quickly turns into sharp pellets, soaking us.  

Monica and Johnny are still fighting. Then we see a flash of lighting. Thirty seconds later there's a loud rumble over head. There's no argument left to be had. We need to find cover.
