The Loss of an Animal

My friend lost his dog yesterday 

His best friend 

Of over a decade 

I want to give him a hug 

But I'm 1000 miles away 

I called him

Left a message 

Said he gave her the best life 

He loved her better than anyone could have 

He saved her

She will always be with him

It's all generic things you hear

When you lose an animal 

But with him it's so true

And we've known each other long enough that he knows...

I don't lie
